The centre pop is worth 100 points, aiming for this on the plunge and getting the ball back into the middle of the pops as often as possible will generally lead to good scores.

The “football scores” such as touchdowns, field goals etc. have no bearing on your game score. The only real purpose of this scoring is to grant a replay at 26 pts (5 ball). This entire mechanic can be ignored if just going for high scores.
