Welcome to the new version of the Find a pinball site Posted on  by

As you’ve probably noticed, the look of the site has changed a little. The surface-level changes are actually the smallest part. A big chunk of the code has been rewritten to be more efficient and, especially, more flexible.

This means adding features in the future will be a lot easier. On the other hand, this doesn’t mean I’ll just be randomly adding features for the sake of it. I’m a big believer in intentional design and building products to do one thing well.

Most of the obvious changes right now are in the venue adding or editing flow. The big one being that the site no longer depends on Foursquare for venue data. Their database is more out of date every day and they intend to start charging shortly too. I built it that way initially because of spam issues, but I think (hope?) I’ve found a way around that.

So, have a dig around and let me know if you spot anything strange. I’m sure some bugs managed to find their way into production.
